Opening in 2012, the Morgantown Market Place is a permanent covered venue anchored by a weekly farmer’s market and a diverse array of community fairs, festivals, and markets.

8:15am -- Remarks from Main Street Morgantown Board President AJ Hammond and Morgantown Farmers Market Growers Association Board President Bryan Cheslock.
8:30am -- Ribbon Cutting with Hammond and Cheslock, joint ringing of the market bell signaling the start of the market.
Honored guests along with market growers and shoppers will be in attendance. Live music will be provided by Haddox, Truman, and Mashburn from 8-10am. Young ones can enjoy a kids zone with oversized games, a book giveaway, and takeaway crafts courtesy Morgantown Public Library and Spark! Imagination and Science Center.
The effort to build the Market Place was led by Main Street Morgantown an envisioned as an anchor for downtown small businesses and to attract customers. A collaborative capital campaign effort led by then Executive Director Terri Cutright raised $825,000 among foundations, the state, federal government, corporations, and private individuals. The broad-based support for the project signifies that no one entity built this important community venue. From May to November, the venue is home to the Morgantown Farmer’s Market from 8:30am to noon.

About Morgantown Farmers Market Growers Association: MFMGA began in 2002 in small group of producers, community-based supporters, and West Virginia University Davis College representatives formed an advisory board with a goal of establishing a reliable Market that would encourage local farmers to supply quality, home-grown produce that would attract customers consistently week after week. 501(c)(3) nonprofit and strives to provide local farmers with an outlet for their products, to ensure food is available to all, and to educate the public about the benefits of buying local.
