The Art Museum of West Virginia University’s “Lunchtime Looks” lecture series will continue Friday December 3, 2021 at 12:00 PM with Zach Fowler. Fowler is Director of WVU Core Arboretum and a Service Associate Professor in WVU Department of Biology, where he teaches Plant Ecology and Flora of West Virginia. His primary responsibilities include maintaining and promoting the Arboretum, planning programming there, coordinating volunteers, and interacting with Arboretum visitors and supporters.
For Lunchtime Looks, Fowler will focus on Trees on the Mountain: Landscapes of Appalachia and Beyond, currently on display in the McGee gallery. His interdisciplinary talk will contextualize the exhibition within his own extensive knowledge of Appalachia’s flora. It will include discussion of the artistic interpretations in the exhibition through the lens of his own scientific expertise as well as his extensive experience in communicating ideas about the natural world to diverse audiences.
This is an in-person event with a virtual option for attendance, and we invite you to join us in the Art Museum’s Plevin lobby at noon before moving to the galleries for the presentation.
